Respiratory Effects

January 10, 2010

The smoke produced from consuming marijuana through inhalation, contains five-times greater carboxyhemoglobin concentrate than tobacco smoke.  Joints and vaporizers are smoked with prolonged inhalation at a higher temperature, resulting in a higher accumulation of cannabis tar in the lungs. As a result, airway diseases such as bronchitis and chronic coughs are higher in those who regularly use marijuana. Though little evidence has been found, chronic marijuana usage can cause cancer.
